introducing our new fresh meadows jade stone body treatment

Joining our ‘dreamy pre-natal’ and ‘new mums’ post-natal experience, we welcome the latest edition to our dreamy pregnancy massage collection, available in selected luxury hotels and spas in the UK.

It is estimated around 1 in 2 pregnant women suffer with fluid retention during pregnancy which can lead to cramping, puffiness and restless legs.

Little Butterfly London is the first in the UK pregnancy market to launch a body treatment which incorporates jade stone drainage massage techniques. Jade stone is naturally cooling and has remarkable drainage benefits as well as recognised psychological benefits of reducing anxiety, helping insomnia and promoting eternal love.

Our ‘fresh meadows jade stone body treatment’ provides the ultimate cooling pregnancy massage for legs, arms, chest and scalp. This revitalising treatment incorporates both a soothing massage with our ‘fall into dreams’ massage oil as well as effective drainage massage techniques with our ‘fresh meadows’ cooling leg gel.

The lymphatic drainage massage uses a cool jade stone, which is linked to fertility and promotes eternal love. The jade stone also calms the mind, aids restfulness and reduces fluid retention. The synergy of these specialised massage movements relieves cramps, puffiness, heaviness and restless legs, to make you feel light as a breeze.  A new ‘fall into dreams’ mother and baby massage oil (100ml) will be opened and used for your treatment. With our compliments, you will receive the rest of the product to take home with you; to nourish, soften and promote peaceful sleep for both mother and baby.

our ‘love eternal’ baby massage techniques

Studies have shown that massaging your baby can reduce crying and restlessness, help them sleep more peacefully and reduce constipation and colic.

Our 100% organic ‘love eternal baby massage oil’ is the perfect product to use on your little one, having been lovingly created especially for delicate skin. Made of a luxurious, organic oil blend, it pampers baby with nourishing peach, protective rosehip and healing calendula oil.

Step 1) Smooth a few drops of our ‘love eternal baby massage oil’ into your warm hands and massage the soles of your baby’s feet. Use firm, gentle, slow strokes from heel to toe.

Step 2) Apply by using smooth, sweeping strokes up your baby’s leg. Massage from ankle up to thigh and over hip. Massage both legs at once or one at a time. Hold your little one’s leg under the knee and gently press it towards the tummy to help release gas.

Step 3) Start your baby’s upper body massage with your hands on their shoulders. Make gentle strokes in towards the chest. Massage your baby’s arms by stroking from the shoulders down towards the wrists.

Step 4) If your baby’s tummy feels soft, massage their belly with circular, clockwise strokes. If your little one gets unsettled, go on to the next step. Avoid the belly button area if your baby’s cord hasn’t healed.

Step 5) Use your finger pads to massage your baby’s face. Gently stroke from the middle of their forehead, down the outside of their face and in towards the cheeks. Finish by massaging the scalp in small circles.

10 things to love about being pregnant

Pregnancy is like a rollercoaster; there are always plenty of ups and downs.

Aside from the miserable side effects like morning sickness, uncomfortable sleepless nights and body pains, there are conversely some amazing things about being pregnant.

Here are a few things to love about being pregnant

1 – excuses

With a growing bump, you’ve got the perfect excuse for almost anything, even for getting out of the housework. You can say goodbye to the housework and chores with a simple “I don’t feel up to it” – you will no longer have to put the bins out. It’s also the best excuse to give yourself some extra pampering. Say hello to long scented baths and relaxing massages!

2 – attention & love

For the coming months you are guaranteed to be getting a lot more attention from those around you. You’ll be taken care of by your family, friends and partner and they will help make this journey go by smoother for you.

 3 – VIP treatment

Not only will you be receiving extra care from loved ones and friends, the outside world will take plenty of notice too. Look forward to plenty of smiles and kind gestures from total strangers. From people holding the door for you, offering their seats to you and carrying heavy things for you – you’ll be feeling very special in no time.

4 – good hair & nails

Pregnancy hormones can result in a fabulous head of hair and fingernails during your pregnancy. Many people notice a change in the health of their hair, which makes it stronger and glossier than ever before!

5 – boobs

Did we mention cleavage? In the early stages of pregnancy, your breasts tend to grow bigger as blood flow increases, breast tissue changes and milk ducts form. That’s why it’s common for breasts to go up by a cup size or two during pregnancy. For those who were born with smaller boobs, it’s your chance to flaunt them and see how the other half live!

6 – food, food and more food

Once the morning sickness subsides and the cravings kick in – you’ll be loving life! Although you do not have to eat for two, you can indulge in your cravings with little guilt or worry!

7 – naps

These are practically a requirement for all pregnant women. You no longer have to feel guilty about sneaking in a few refreshing naps during the daytime!

8 – first moments

You’ll never forget those first few moments. From seeing them on an ultrasound scan, those first little kicks and squirms, a hiccup – there will never be a dull moment when it comes to the new life inside of you.

9 – shopping

Who doesn’t love shopping? You’ll have plenty of time to help choose some adorable little baby clothes, new furniture and decorate the nursery in time for the arrival of the awaited little one.

10 – anticipation

The anticipation keeps it exciting. From the beginning to the end, there are plenty of fun and nervous moments. From keeping it a secret, the look of excitement and surprise when you tell your family, finding out the gender, and picking out a name – there are endless joyful moments during a pregnancy.

ingredient of the month – pomegranate extract

If you drink pomegranate juice daily or eat a lot of pomegranate seeds, then you could be slowing the aging process. Pomegranate, a true super food, is loaded with hydrating, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, to help retain the skin’s moisture, fight sun and environmental damage, and minimise the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. Also known for its cell regenerative abilities, this wonder fruit promotes the production of collagen and elastin, to firm and plump the skin.

Our ‘blossoms in spring illuminating day cream’ contains collagen-enhancing argan leaf to promote firmness, whilst passionflower, pomegranate and green tea extracts help to smooth fine lines. White mulberry brightens the skin to reveal a more even, radiant, energised and youthful complexion.

This certified-organic cream is specifically tailored to the needs of mums and mums-to-be. Lightweight yet ultra-hydrating, the powerful formulation soothes and nourishes, reduces the risk of break-outs, accelerates cell recovery, diminishes pigmentation and helps to improve overall skin texture. Safety approved for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

keep your little one safe in the sun

If you’re planning a sun filled holiday, or you’re simply just hoping that the sun will show its face at some point this summer, it is imperative to be sun safe. Children who get sunburned in childhood or adolescence are at an increased risk of melanoma (the most serious form of skin cancer) in later life. Take precautions protect your children now and into in the future.

Here are 10 of our top sun safety tips:

Babies up to 6 months ideally should not be exposed to direct sunlight as they have much thinner skin and underdeveloped melanin. Cover their arms and legs with clothing while out and about. Use mesh screens on car windows.

The best time to take young children outside is before 10 am and after 4 pm when the sun is not as intense. Ensure they wear wide-brimmed hats, and consider investing in a parasol or a special cover for the buggy. Some newer designs, such as the Uppababy Vista, will already have a special UV protection cover installed in the hood of the pram.

Young, sensitive skin is especially vulnerable to damaging UV rays. Use a broad-spectrum sun cream that protects against both UVA and UVB rays, making sure to cover all exposed areas.

Experts recommend an SPF (sun protection factor) of at least 30 for children, but the higher the SPF, the better. Most sun protection for children has SPF 50.

Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside. It’s worth doing a patch test to check if your child is allergic to a particular cream.

Generously re-apply sun protection every 2 hours.

When using a spray suncream, do not spray directly onto the your child’s face. Instead, use your hands for thorough application.

Take care in cloudy weather – up to 90% of UV rays can pass through light cloud. Be familiar with the UV index, which measures the risk of harm from unprotected sun exposure. This can be checked on most weather apps.

If your children are in someone else’s care, make sure you send sun cream with them and  ask that their carer re-applies at regular intervals.

Children learn from example, so let them see you apply sun cream to your own skin too!

Protect the delicate skin of your precious little ones now and instil lifelong sun safety skills that they will carry with them into adulthood.
