Papaya Seed Oil carica papaya
Papaya Seed Oil: Postnatal Nourishment from Carica Papaya
The papaya, or carica papaya, originates from the tropics of the Americas and Mexico.
Also known as paw paw (called ‘fruit of the angels’ by Christopher Columbus), papaya is a member of the Caricaceae family. A large cylindrical or spherical fruit, it’s packed with nutrients and anti-oxidants.
Papaya oil is derived from the seeds of the fruit and is an excellent source of skin-loving vitamins A, C and E, Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids, and a unique enzyme called ‘papain’. Perfect for hydrating, cleansing and naturally exfoliating the skin, this light, non-greasy and easily absorbed oil is non-irritating and suitable for both mum and baby.
Moisturising: Hydrating and conditioning, it helps to reduce dryness and flakiness, and promotes skin softness.
Healing: With powerful anti-inflammatories, it helps to reduce itchiness and redness, and brings relief to irritated skin conditions
Purifying: With anti-microbial activity, it inhibits the production of bacteria, discourages acne and promotes wound recovery.
Exfoliating: It gently removes dead skin cells, dissolves excess sebum, unclogs blocked pores and boosts healthy cell renewal.
Brightening: It helps to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark spots, and gives the skin an even, healthy looking glow.
Anti-oxidant: It helps to neutralise free radicals, prevent skin-cell damage, minimise fine lines and wrinkles, and keep the skin fresh and healthy.
Naturally, at Little Butterfly London, we only use the organic version of this mild, re-balancing oil. You’ll find it in the following products.
