Happy Father's Day!
Cheers to Dads: Celebrating Happy Father's Day
First Father’s Day
For those who celebrate it, Father’s Day is an extremely important time of year to celebrate everything our dad’s do for us, and if it is your first one, all the more reason. With this special day fast approaching on Sunday 20th June, it can be difficult to know how to approach this milestone with your little one, especially if they are very new to the world, so here are some ways to bond with your baby before the day arrives.
Quality Time
Spending quality time with your little one is a great way to build a strong bond from a young age, this interaction helps your baby to learn and develop a good relationship with you. This is especially important for parents that may need to return to work sooner than they would like and are out for most of the day.
This could be as simple as cuddling your baby whilst they sleep, reading a story so they can listen to your voice or playing with toys.
Establishing Routine
As we all know, it is important to establish a routine in your baby’s day, which can sometimes prove difficult when one parent cannot always be at home. Allocate a task to do every day such as bathing your little one or putting them to bed which ensures they spend important bonding time with both parents.
It is just as important for baby to also spend time with both parents together so make sure time is made as a family to enjoy together.
The Magic Touch
We have all heard about the power of skin to skin contact with your baby during the early stages of life for familiarity and bonding benefits.
The health benefits for your baby include regulation of body temperature and stress reduction amongst other things but it also helps to solidify a connection between parent and baby as they can listen to your heartbeat and learn your smell.
And last but not least, enjoy your Father’s Day, however you are spending it!
